A team of researchers from the Mexican Institute of Petroleum (IMP) has defined a technological development strategy to assimilate and develop a planning model for Mexico's natural gas and electricity systems, which is part of the progress made in the six months Project work Development of a planning model for the analysis and optimization of electricity and natural gas supply networks.

The stage of assimilation of technology that was scheduled for six months began on October 31, 2016 and concluded on April 30. It is anticipated that in the next stage, the generation of a computer program will be completed to make analytical estimates of the planning in the gas and electricity sectors, which can be completed until April 2018.

An agreement has been formalized with Energea, with the purpose of espousing a platform to develop a network optimization model of natural gas and electricity. In realizing this project, IMP has started defining a strategy to train its personnel with the focus of generating a process of innovative solutions in the gas-electricity value chain.
